During Summer 2013, I had the privilege of traveling to sunny San Diego as a Pop2Life intern, to work NBC's area at Comic Con 2013. Of the four NBC activations, I was given the responsibility to lead the Grimm Spice Shop.

Leading up to NBC's Comic Con, I had been assisting Pop2Life with multiple aspects of the planning. From brainstorming layout and prop ideas, to ordering materials and sitting-in on meetings with NBC,  I was very involved in the preperation of the project. Thus being said, it was incredible to see all of hard work come to fruition in San Diego.

And what an incredible learning experience it was. Not only did I get to work behind the scenes with NBC executives, but I personally handled the publicity team of Grimm's cast!

However, the most rewarding part of this whole experience was leading my team of brand ambassadors. Day 1 of Comic Con, I met my team. After explaining to them how the activation would work, quizing them on Grimm facts, and giving them an overview of the entire NBC layout, we were ready. The first day, it was apparent that they were merely there for the hourly pay check. However, with a motivational pep talk and a large dose of positive morale, they were re-motivated. The second day, the difference in team spirit was incredible. They were working like a true team. They were filling in for each other if the need was there, communicating to each other and to me if there were any sudden problems, and smiling while doing it. Because of the effective team plan laid out and positive energy, the Grimm activation was a HUGE success. A marketing executive of NBC even came over to praise the sucess of my area.

Z100's Jingle Ball 2012 with Clear Channel

As a Clear Channel Promotions and Marketing intern, I worked with the Promotions team in the planning and execution of Z100's Jingle Ball Pre-Party. After assisting the head of Promotions in a walk through of Tribeca Rooftop, I helped brainstorm ways to make the event dazzle with edge yet class. I helped in the designing of the e-vites, as well as selecting details of the decor. This was the first big event I had the privilege of assisting with. The event, featuring Jay Sean, was a huge success!

The best part? After the success of the event, I was invited back to part-time Z100's Jingle Ball 2012 at the Madison Square Garden. And of course, I eagerly accepted.

Five months later, I found myself running around the backstage of the MSG, walky talky in hand. The description whirlind sums it up pretty accurately: Months of preparation, snowballing into 2 days of chaotic, adrenaline-pumping execution. Before I knew it, the closing act was finishing up on stage, the crowd cheering, and the promotions team backstage was smiling.

106.7 Lite FM's Broadway in Bryant Park with Clear Channel & Pop2Life

Clear Channel and  Pop2Life.  Here's how...

As a Clear Channel promotions intern Summer 2012, I assisted in the event planning, as well as the working of Broadway in Bryant Park. (I was especially into this project, because I have always had a passion for musical theater.) Anyway, during one of the shows, I started talking to a representative from Clear Channel's creative marketing firm, Pop2Life (lightbulb?). I was especially intrigued about what the firm did, who their clients were, and what their creative mission was. So, we got into talking...

One summer later, low and behold, I was a Pop2Life intern! Ironically, I endedup working with Pop2Life in the planning of Broadway in Byant Park 2013. It was quite an interesting learning experience, working behind the scenes from both ends: The client, and the firm. I learned the different responsibilities of each, and how both ends come together in a neat little bow at the end.

I feel extremely lucky to have experienced both ends of the Marketing Communications industry. I don't think it is often that someone of my age gets to learn from such experienced, quick witted and intelligent people- from both sides! It has made me feel extremely prepared to enter the industry post Penn State...

Bring it on, career.
